1.    Introduction

Photography aim in presenting and documenting something for present or future view. This can consist of image(s) or a combination of image(s) and text(s) to present a message or freeze time so that in the future we may remember what things looked like. For this reason, photography and design should be effective and be performed by following appropriate techniques such as reverse engineering. Wikipedia explains Reverse engineering as “a process or method through the application of which one attempts to understand through deductive reasoning how a device, process, system, or piece of software accomplishes a task with very little insight into exactly how it does so.”  This technique helps design engineers to analyze an image in order to conclude its validity once all the design concepts are met.

I will be analyzing in order to identify the typeface and leading lines used in the design found on the tuffhut.com website.

2.    Analysis

2.1.        Typeface:

The design uses the main typeface: Sans Serif. The font used doesn’t have serifs thus the texts are cleaner-looking and increased readability. The typeface selected for this post work perfectly especially for this web article. An extra typeface used is decorative (Fancy Fire Pit)

2.2.        Typeface Contrast:

Different colors are used to create contracts in this post. Grey, Brown, and dark grey. The catching sentence “Corona Fire Bowl” is written on a grey background to create a clear vision. Different text sizes are also used to lead end-users to focus on the main message.

Corona Fire Bowl for example is the bowl’s name to attract buyers or users. It has the greatest text size and its color is different. The bowl’s motto itself has different sizes and colors.

Plus distance the texts are centered align.

2.3.        Photography

This post has a very beautiful image. The type of photography used here is leading the eyes technique to the desired point, in this case, the sentence in red “Fancy Fire Pit”. This creates depth, symmetry, and a strong visual impact.

3.    Photos from my camera

My three photos taken from three different locations matches some concepts in the design of the analyzed photo. The first photo with a white background was taken in the bathtub, the second on the floor, and the last on the balcony. Each photo still can be edited and be used for efficient design.

4.    Conclusion

Through this reverse engineer post, I have consolidated my understanding of the use of different techniques such as typography, contrast, leading lines, and taking pictures with precisions. This has been a great experience in enforcing my designing skills.
