Non-profits organizations specifically, struggle to find ways of rising income or sustain what they have without any external assistance. Grants and donations although a short-term program become the main source of income of many organization struggling financially; however, once these programmes cease, the organization’s impact stops. Fabrice Tshiyoyi Banyingela Professor Michelle Donner Parenting Skills 30 May 2021 Parenting Interview             While both parents and children strive to understand each other clearly, often, parents find excuses for authority while children fight to be recognized. It is a well-known fact that the relationship between parents and children in the world has been stress throughout their lives. Even with the rise in the number of pediatricians and psychologists, parents battle to come out of the state of deception and children feel disappointed. This is not to say that parents should stop trying, but to say that the efforts to put in place to shape the child’s pathway require a positive grit and might take several years.             Some parents have lost hope and many are still optimistic. 2b Design: A creative social business in Lebanon

2b Design: A creative social business in Lebanon Introduction After accumulating enough managerial experience as an entrepreneur, Raja Moubarak and his wife Benedicte de Blavous moved to Lebanon in 2003 and three years later decided to create a social business named 2b Design which specialized in transforming architectural salvage into works of art. 2b Design has a clear mission: “restoring the unseen beauty of the broken” which will focus on maintaining disappearing artwork, buildings, and tradition through artistic creations and employing marginalized individuals especially the unemployable along with the disabled. This mission is accomplished by gathering and utilizing wrought iron, decorative wood, and other elements found in scrapyards and old Lebanese homes thus preserving a heritage that was ever more in danger of disappearing while touching and improving the lives of the broken (people whose socio-economic status or disabilities hindered them from leading a decent life). ...

Fabrice Tshiyoyi Banyingela Sister Michelle Donner Writing & Reasoning 12 May 2021 Are gifts and campaign contributions a form of bribery? It is nowadays hard  to define bribery . But in a narrow sense, it primarily involves corruption and comes in several forms. Bribery is a global phenomenon, present in practically all levels of institutions around the world. Bribery has become rampant in recent decades of our society. Several times, the government and congress have attempted to demonstrate to us that they oppose bribery and are finding ways to eliminate it from our society, but have not managed to accomplish this, which is unfortunately not uncommon throughout our history. However, this does not imply that this corruption and bribery was not fought through by the government, rather to indicate that the impact made upon the poor community was not always their top priority, and rich minds have continued to be sickened by the "disease" only know as bribery. Si...

Reading Response -  Is Google Making Us Stupid   Fabrice Tshiyoyi Banyingela Sister Michelle Donner Writing & Reasoning 6 May 2021 Reading Response - Is Google Making Us Stupid In his essay entitled “ Is Google Making Us Stupid ” which is more opinion based than just an argument, Nicholas Carr expressed concerns about the danger the internet will represent in the near future by eroding his reading skill when he said “ Now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages… the deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle”, he said. Carr made several claims such as the Internet is making us lazy with a shorter attention span and therefore he experienced humans becoming slower at reading and writing. At some point, I agree with him that the Internet distracts us from reading and concentrating, but besides that through the Internet, we can get information as fast as before, perform online banking, attend online classes, work from hom...
Good Business Creates Good Business: Southwest Creations Collaborative     Introduction Southwest Creations Collaborative (SCC) is a non-profit social enterprise created by Susan Matteucci with the intent to support economically disadvantaged Spanish-speaking immigrant women in New Mexico to improve their social and economic welfare. The main activity of the organization is to employ women for sewing jobs. SCC revenues originate from contracts but highly depending upon grants and donations. To find other sources of income, Matteucci has to make a crucial decision whether or not to accept a joint venture with a recently formed group called Social Venture Partners-New Mexico (SVPNM) in order to become more independent and less reliant on donations and government grants. Her most worry is the SVPNM’s lack of field experience in the sewing industry despite their good business background and the fact that this venture might change the purpose of the organization. Pr...
Week 02: Become the Change You Wish To See ·          Summary of the main ideas and topics of the week. This week's lessons thought me to really search for my talents and gifts in order to be at the service of mankind. For that, some of us are gifted to become effective social entrepreneurs whiles others are not. But as human beings, we need everyone’s participation in building a new society, becoming the answer to our global problems through our actions. The topic “What is your calling” made me gained new insight by explaining what Martin Luther King expressed as a definition of work which is for him “How we participate in God’s providence toward His children”. That is the aim of work, to share our ability in the development of our society. We don’t have to work for money only, from time to time, I need to volunteer as well to create a great impact. I have been taking children from age 12 to 14 for the free computer at my house, and...
